Encryption

In plain words

Scrambling data so only the person with the key can read it.

Encrypted data looks like noise to anyone who intercepts it. End-to-end means only the sender and receiver hold keys, so not even the company in the middle can read the content.

In a sentence

“The chat is end-to-end encrypted, so the provider cannot read your messages.”
