Compound interest

In plain words

Interest that earns interest on itself, snowballing over time.

Each period's interest is added to the balance, so the next period pays interest on a bigger amount. It grows savings and debt much faster than it feels like it should.

In a sentence

“Left for 30 years, the account triples. That is compound interest working.”
